You're probably in the wrong room — want to join us in the volcano?
Available for 48 hrs: recording of our first Old Soul's Purpose Circle
One time, my mom and I went swimming and showered off afterward.
A guy came into the room and starting rinsing off. I glared at him for making himself at home in our space.
German culture is thankfully very relaxed about mixed-gender changing rooms. However, we were in the women-only area. So why was he acting like he owned the place?
Then, another guy entered. At this point, the first one pointed out that we were in the men’s area.
Oops. I hustled out the door, shame-faced about my previous judgy-ness.
Being in the wrong room feels uncomfortable. And it made me think about how often in life I feel like I’m in the wrong room — not as a body or personality, but as a soul.
What’s soul got to do with it?
You see, I’m an old soul. If you’re reading this, I suspect you might be, too.
And here’s the thing: our culture is made by and for younger souls. Old souls don’t really have a space that reflects their deeper values.
Sports? It’s literally win-lose.
Religion? Maybe the select few who actually follow their own teachings.
Government? Hah.
According to a marketing coach’s email I just read, most people are primarily self-interested. If you’re an old soul, you probably didn’t get that memo.
I spend more on donations to animal advocacy than on my clothes or my hobbies combines. My environmentalist husband would rather melt in the DC summer heat than put on the A/C (we now have solar panels so he, and our house, are more chill.)
And the two of us are on the mild spectrum of old souls giving a damn. There are people who are literally getting pepper-sprayed for trying to keep other humans or animals safe.
Other than maybe nonviolent activism, old souls don’t have a lot of spaces where they comfortably belong.
So, let’s change that:
You’re warmly invited to our Old Soul’s Purpose Circle
We gather monthly in the volcano. If you’re tired of being in the wrong room, you’re welcome in this one:
These gatherings are for people who’ve been told (or who’ve felt) that they’re “too much.” Too deep, too sensitive, too caring.
Revisit our first gathering
We just had our first gathering today. Below, you will find the recording.
Note: I didn’t record the live sharing at the end. What happens in the volcano stays in the volcano. :) The replay includes the guided meditation and journaling prompts — everything you need to have your own experience of the gathering.
Here’s a taste of what’s inside:
The deep sigh that comes from broadening your circle of compassion, and extending it to the one person who’s always left out.
The fun adventure of symbolically visiting the only magma chamber on this planet you can enter, and soaking up the wisdom of the volcano Þríhnúkagígur.
The gleeful satisfaction of handing toxic productivity a restraining order — and the relief of upgrading to a different model.
The replay is available for 48 hours. Then it moves into my paid membership, the Inner Sanctuary (this is where my workshops, energy healings, and other member-only resources live).
For ongoing access to recordings:
If you want continued access to this and future recordings — plus a growing library of workshops and energy healings — you can become a paid Substack member.
(Cancel anytime. No hard feelings.)
For the live experience:
If you want to attend future gatherings, register below.
(There’s no charge. If these gatherings matter to you and you want to support them, the best way is through a paid Substack membership. You’re welcome either way.)
Fun synchronicity: I wrote this email, including the headline “You’re probably in the wrong room — come join us in the volcano.”
Well, the universe definitely has a sense of humor: I accidentally sent out a link to the wrong meeting room. So, I actually got to tell one person that they were in the wrong room (my fault) and invited them over to the volcano.
Warmly,
Louise
