Why Can't I Lucid Dream? (Audience Question & Channeled Answer)
The main thing that can be gained from lucid dreams is an awakening to the fact that everything is a dream.
We are back with another audience question (you can read previous ones here)! This time, the question is:
”I would like to ask about my dreams. Specifically why have I never been able to lucid dream, and is it something I'll be able to learn, or is there some blockage that needs to be removed before I can consciously dream.”
That’s such a fascinating question, so I was really interested in hearing Niv’s response! I’ll share a summary of what they had to say, as well as the audio recording and a full transcript, below.
If you have a question you would like a public channeled answer to, let me know in the comments. I also offer channeling session if you want private guidance and more back-and-forth interaction with Niv.
Summary:
Dreams are interesting because they are real in a different way than everyday reality.
Through the process of lucid dreaming, you can experience the landscape of dreaming more consciously.
There are benefits of dreaming you get regardless of whether you are aware that you are dreaming or not.
There’s fun in playing with lucid dreaming—and you can also have that fun in other ways (such as through journeying).
The main thing that can be gained from lucid dreams is an awakening to the fact that everything is kind of a dream. Sometimes, when people don’t lucid dream, they aren’t wishing for that experience, which is completely fine.
If you can’t lucid dream, it might be because there’s a certain disconnect between your consciousness and the landscape of dreams that needs to be bridged.
However, perhaps other explorations serve your joyful growth better right now than lucid dreaming. You know that’s the case by how you feel when you consider dedicating yourself to learning how to lucid dream. Does it feel heavy or light?

Transcript:
And through this process known as lucid dreaming, you have the option of experiencing the landscape escape of dreaming more consciously.
There are benefits of dreaming that you get, whether or not you are aware of the fact that you're dreaming while you're doing that.
Now, referring to your question about why you have never been able to elicit dream, there may be a certain disconnect between your consciousness and the landscape of dreams that might need to be bridged. You can hold your consciousness in your consciousness while you're awake. In other words, while you are walking around and talking, you are aware that you're walking and talking. And so far you haven't yet translated that into the dreamscape.
Now we want to assure you that that is completely fine. There is a certain fun in playing with lucid dreams. And at the same time, that is a type of fun that you can also have in other ways through the process of journeying, for instance.
And that is, again, perfectly okay. You are where you would like to be. And if you realize that you would rather be somewhere else, then that is possible for you as well.
So if you, upon considering everything, realize that you really do wish to lucid dream—with the understanding that there will be a certain moment of realizing everything is a dream, including me and my waking reality—if that's what you want, then it should be available to you.
Please know that whatever choice you make is perfectly fine and acceptable and applaudable from our perspective. You are, again, right where you need to be. You have gathered many, many insights already.
And it might be that right now, other explorations would serve your growth, your joyful growth, better than the lucid dreaming. And you can discover if that's the case by exploring how you feel when you think about it. For instance, if you think “hey, I'm going to dedicate myself to learning how to lucid dream for the next couple of months” and if you feel a certain heaviness while you think of that, then we would suggest that learning to lucid dream at this point might not be in your best interest, especially if you can think of something else that you could also do with that time that actually feels really interesting and juicy instead.
Sometimes it can seem like one path is the right one, especially if it seems to hold a certain secrecy or mystery or accomplishment or something like a certain mystique that maybe lucid dreaming has. And the truth… You can do this with any path you take, there comes the moment when you realize, oh, it's just normal.
We would encourage you to choose wisely and put your time into the endeavors that are most aligned for you and that most support your aliveness and that feel the best for you. And if something feels bad or like there's a certain tension there, then you could explore where the tension is coming from. Maybe it's about the activity itself or maybe it's about your approach.
So to stick with the example of swimming, say you had decided, “hey, I want to learn how to swim”, and that somehow doesn't feel good, then maybe it's because swimming right now just isn't aligned for you.
Or it actually feels aligned to learn swimming, but your swimming instructor is terrible. Or you actually need a very different approach, or you're just having more fun while you're going through the process. So all these are some things to consider.
And as we bid you goodbye, we want to acknowledge you for all that you have already done and accomplished and all the mastery you've already attained in all these different areas that we call the spiritual, the mystical, the magical, all of that.
It could be that it's actually helpful to others to know that someone can have that area of mastery or knowledge in different areas and then choose not to pursue a somewhat related area like lucid dreaming. In other words, that it's okay to pick and choose from a menu. And just because you're a great cook when it comes to entrées and soups and all these other things doesn't mean that you also have to choose to be a great mixer of beverages. Maybe that's not your cup of tea—to really play around with metaphors here.
So all is well in your reality, and we hope this has provided some insight to you. And we wish you all the best on your way forward. Bye for now, my friend.
