Overly Old Politicians? It's Not Just About Age, It's Also About Soul Age
Plus a channeled message for people who feel overwhelmed by collective events.
** If you feel overwhelmed by collective events (regardless of where you live), I invite you to listen to the short channeled message at the end of this post. I also invite you to explore if my beta course “The Pathfinder’s Guide to the Apocalypse” is for you. **
Hi friend,
Do you live in the US or have connections to the US? If so, you might have watched the presidential debate last week, or have thoughts about it.
I watched the debate, and yes, I didn’t enjoy the experience much. For me, it was really painful to watch Biden falter. It was a sharp contrast to his State of the Union speech, and the rally he held the day after the debate.
What I enjoyed even less than the debate itself, though, were all the statements people made about Biden’s age, and the calls for him to withdraw.
Does age matter?
Of course, age matters.
However, the way I see it, we are missing something that matters a lot more: soul age.
Yes, I’m in favor of having more young politicians… but above all else, I’m in favor of having more old souls (whether they are currently in a young, middle-aged, or old body) in positions of power.
Why? Because old souls generally have more wisdom and compassion than younger souls. Which to me makes them better leaders. (Although I understand that the majority of the world might not agree with my criteria.)
While old souls obviously aren’t perfect at all, they are at least committed to service to others. They want what’s good for others. In contrast, younger souls are committed to service to self. They want what’s good for them.
Look at Margaret Thatcher. Look at Ronald Reagan.
Young souls in position of power.
The wisdom of old souls
In contrast, consider Jimmy Carter, an old soul president. Here are a few things he said:
“All I want is the same thing you want. To have a nation with a government that is as good and honest and decent and competent and compassionate and as filled with love as are the American people.”
“The measure of a society is found in how they treat their weakest and most helpless citizens.”
“A strong nation, like a strong person, can afford to be gentle, firm, thoughtful, and restrained. It can afford to extend a helping hand to others. It's a weak nation, like a weak person, that must behave with bluster and boasting and rashness and other signs of insecurity.”
That right there is the wisdom and compassion of an old soul talking!
Contrast that with Thatcher:
“Power is like being a lady... if you have to tell people you are, you aren't.” (This is kinda ironic coming from someone who boasted that she was “the only man” in her all-male cabinet…)
Or Reagan:
“I've noticed that everyone who is for abortion has already been born.” (Yeah, and so is everyone who is against abortion rights. What is your point, exactly? That we need to get better at communicating with the unseen realms so we can ask spirits how they feel about this question?)
Both of these quotes are pithy. They make Thatcher and Reagan seem smart. But there is a world of difference between smartness and wisdom.
Thatcher and Reagan might have been smart, but Carter is wise.
Old soul politicians
Unfortunately, most old souls shy away from politics. Why? Because politics kind of sucks. (I was involved in the creation of a new party in Europe, and realized it was not for me.)
Old souls aren’t interested in having power for the sake of power. They tend to be less narcissistic than younger souls. And after many lifetimes where they’ve gotten their battle wounds and awards, they are also often less ambitious. All this explains why our world is run by young souls.
Which is why we should cherish every old soul who takes it upon themselves to run for a political office.
Make no mistake, while both Biden and Trump are relatively “old” (when judged in linear terms), their soul age is vastly different.
I’m not saying Biden is an old soul (I don’t have enough information to make that assessment), I’m just saying that he’s a much older soul than Trump.
And that should matter, too.
Warmly,
Louise
P.S.: By the way, there’s nothing at all wrong with being a young soul—all souls are right where they need to be. We have all been young souls once, and have only learned through making (often terrible) mistakes. The oldest souls are generally the ones who have made the most mistakes.

Are you a deep soul who feels overwhelmed by collective events? Would you like compassionate group support for finding your place in the midst of these intense times? If so, check out my beta course (starting in August):
Channeled message
If you feel overwhelmed by collective events and could use some upliftment, here’s a brief channeled message for you. I asked for this specifically to help people who felt down after the debate, but realized that this message applies much more broadly, too.
Please don’t listen to this while driving or doing anything that requires your attention.
Transcript:
Welcome. This is a transmission. To receive this transmission, we ask you that you are in a quiet, safe space where you will not be interrupted. Put your feet on the ground. Open up your palms. And just receive what we have in store for you.
This information will come in through words, but more importantly, through energy. As you are receiving this, you might notice shifts within yourself. It is possible that right now you are feeling panicked about events or about what you expect the future to be like. You might feel anger, resentment. You might be going through what you call the stages of grief, through all of them simultaneously.
Now, this is perfectly normal. There is so much happening right now, and you can only see part of that. It's like the tip of the iceberg. You, as a human, see the tip of the iceberg. And the problem is that the tip of the iceberg looks problematic. The iceberg in total looks... well, it is massive. But the bigger shifts that we see at play here can ultimately be exceedingly positive.
The problem is that you cannot shift from state A to state B without turmoil—at least if state A (which is your current reality, and especially the reality a few years ago) and where we are all going is very far apart.
I ask you to trust that there is a better future that is available, that these are big waves, but that you can be safe in the midst of them. Trust in the process. Connect with a part of you that is calm. And know that no transformation lasts forever.
There is another side of this. And life may at times feel boring again, which is something that you probably would look forward to, wouldn't you? So let go of all the negative energies that you're currently holding. Just breathing them out, letting them fall down. And just for a moment, allow yourself to feel light and easy and good. And if you like, carry that feeling with you throughout the day.
If you like, listen to this as many times as you need. I look forward to being in touch with you again.
Farewell for now, my friend.
I believe most politicians are young souls. What we really need, as you said, are at least older souls who want to serve. Seems many old souls are more in the healing professions, teachers, artists, channelers. I've been told I am an old soul, and like Angela, don't always relate to the external world. The next few months all of us souls need to send love and meditate on a peaceful election.
I enjoyed reading your calming thoughts about old and young souls in the positions of power. I feel like I'm an old soul and sometimes have a hard time relating to the usual world. I love your example of Jimmy Carter and some of the things he said. It is good when we have gentle souls in these positions that have compassion and genuine caring of others -- we so need that everywhere. (Oh and I'm from the US and am dreading the elections this fall! ahh)
